Hi Everyone! Happy New Year! I hope we create a lot of fun and beautiful artwork in 2014 together.
Before we get to today’s video art tutorial, I’m going to go over the new FREE Monthly Art Newsletter. At the end of each month, I’ll send out a monthly newsletter highlighting the videos released during that month, some of your top comments, and some secret art tips to help your creative process. To sign up, go to my site, artistrage.com, and on the left hand column, type in and submit your email under the newsletter box. If you sign up this month, you’ll also be entered to win my drawing of Gir from Invader Zim!
I’m excited to give you free monthly art newsletter each month. This way, we can keep in touch and talk about ways to improve our eye, minds, heart, and skill in our craft.
With that said… here’s this week’s tutorial. Yes it’s another drawing tutorial! You guys keep requesting them, so I keep bringing them. I believe the past 6 or so videos have been requests. Keep them up!
For the drawing this week you are going to need:
A piece of paper (I used 8.5 x 11 size paper)
Something to color with (I used color pencils)
TIPS FOR DRAWING GIR FROM INVADER ZIM:
- Gir’s shape mostly consists of a bunch of rounded rectangles. That means the edges have a curve and all the ends are rounded.
- Gir’s head is bigger than his body.
- Gir;s eye’s take up most of the space on his head.
- Gir’s left and right eye look in different directions as the “dog.”
- Gir likes tacos.
Good luck! Let me know how your drawing turns out. You can tweet me a pic @artistrage or leave a comment on the video.
Let me know what you would like to draw or paint next week.
