My drawings have been pretty, eh, stiff looking as of late. I think it’s time to do some “warm up” drawings. Think of this as stretches for the drawing muscle.
This week we’ll be doing gesture drawings, and lots of them! This challenge will only take you 1 hour because this is a time challenge. We will do 12 gesture drawings each taking us 5 minutes a piece. So set a timer to go off in 5 minutes. When timer goes off, you stop with that gesture drawing and start the next drawing. After an hour of this you will have completed 12 gesture drawings.
But what are gesture drawings?
Gesture drawings are quick drawings that capture the basic form and movement of your subject. They’re usually done by looking at a life subject. Unless you have a friend or family member willing to do 12 different poses for you in an hour long span (preferred method), then it’s okay to look for 12 different poses online of people.
